One of my New Years resolutions is to drink more water. Most people, me included, could really benefit by drinking more water, staying hydrated. Water not only improves your skin, it’s cleansing and improves your health and functioning. We all know this, but we also know that water is quite a boring drink that, to most, doesn’t even taste good. I’ve really made an effort to drinking more water over the past month or so and it’s working. I don’t feel so clogged all the time and my sugar intake (from all the other drinks) is way less. So, how did I do it?
By adding fruit to my water! It’s so easy and yet so life changing.
What do you need?
- fruit(s) of your liking
- herb(s) of your liking
- ice cubes
- a glass or jug (or mason jar)
It’s best to use fruit that is in season, but you can use frozen fruits as well. My favorite fruit to use is lime and my favorite herb is mint, but I’m still experimenting so don’t hold me to that. I often add a couple of slices of lime to just a glass of water, but you can make as much as you want. Add ice cubes if you like it extra cold (they also look cool). Some fruits add a lot of flavor to water, others less. Try different fruits to find out what works for you.
Tip: Use a wooden spoon to bruise the fruits and herbs a little to release their flavor. And if you like an intense flavor and/or you don’t have the patience to wait, let your water sit in the refrigerator for one night before consuming.
